But where would we be without our imagination?
Birds with clipped wings doomed to their thin legs
Orphans begging for affection in a world afflicted with cold,
Shapeless clouds in a finite sky,
Where would we be?
If all has to make sense and sense was as common as greed and hatred
If light came only from a lamp
And Truth, never from the horse's mouth.
Where would we be if a bomb were just a bomb,
And the child lying dead in a pit, merely a sacrifice for power
Where would we be if the decimation of a population
Became somebody's tea party conversation
If the God we prayed was the one they paid
If the brothers we knew were the ones who threw us to the Lion?
Where would we be if words were not free
If ideas got smothered before their fires burn
If water was for sale
And money not for all
If the very air we breathe
Wasn’t as pure as we had thought?
Where would we be if Love became a game
And health became a pill
Oh blackest of all markets we buy what we can’t sell
Where would we be if music lost its soul
And art became a prank?
No Beauty ever thrived in a dark box in a bank
Where would we be? Just here,
The when …would be just now
Where would be?? Just here
The question should be HOW?
